Cypress semiconductor corporation

Cypress Semiconductor is an American semiconductor design and manufacturing company founded in 1982 in San Jose, California. The company was founded by T.J. Rodgers, who obtained his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University. In the early days, Cypress Semiconductor primarily focused on the design and production of static random access memory (SRAM) chips.

In 1986, Cypress Semiconductor went public, trading on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the ticker symbol CY. The company continued to expand its product offerings throughout the 1990s and 2000s, with a focus on microcontrollers, programmable system-on-chip (PSoC) devices, and memory products.

One of Cypress Semiconductor's notable achievements was its development of the first reconfigurable mixed-signal array (RMA) in the late 1990s. This technology enabled designers to create custom semiconductor solutions for their specific applications, opening up new possibilities for innovation across industries.

In 2019, Cypress Semiconductor was acquired by Infineon Technologies, a German semiconductor manufacturer, for $10.1 billion. The acquisition expanded Infineon's product portfolio with Cypress Semiconductor's expertise in memory, microcontrollers, and connectivity solutions.

Today, Cypress Semiconductor continues to innovate in the semiconductor industry, providing solutions for automotive, industrial, consumer, and IoT applications. With a legacy of over 30 years of technology leadership, Cypress Semiconductor has established itself as a leading semiconductor design and manufacturing company.
